Indigenous Peoples Day is October 10

In 2018, the City of Mankato adopted a resolution marking the second Monday of October as Indigenous Peoples Day. Monday, October 10 of this year marks the fourth annual recognition of this day. This resolution served as the next step on the path of reconciliation between the Indigenous Dakota Nation and the people of Mankato. Hundreds of people gathered on the lawn of the Minnesota State Capitol over the weekend to show opposition to COVID-19 shot mandates that have popped up from state and local governments, schools and businesses.
