Minnesota scientists urge Walz to stop Enbridge Energy’s Line 3 pipeline replacement

A coalition of Twin Cities scientists is urging Governor Tim Walz to stop Line 3, the Enbridge Pipeline that would transport crude oil from Canada through Minnesota for international export. Vets Say to Keep Pets Inside During the Cold

The cold weather not only increases the chance for humans to get frostbite, but for pets as well. Veterinarian Mary Ann Nelson of the North Mankato Animal Hospital says pets shouldn't be outside for more than 20 minutes. She also recommends having your pet wear a jacket and booties to help them if they have to go outside.

Red Rocks Bar disturbance leads to felony assault charges

A 27-year-old Mankato man jailed and is facing three felony charges after an early Sunday morning disturbance at Red Rocks Bar in Mankato and police are still looking for a second man involved. Mankato police said the victim had a large cut on his nose and another above his left eye when they arrived at the bar, and he told investigators that Obed Olok hit him in the face twice with a beer bottle. The criminal complaint shows that prior to the altercation Olok and 26-year-old Medi Opiew were harassing the victim and his buddies for money to buy booze. The incident [...]

Southwestern Minnesota school district closed until Monday due to flu outbreak

A southwestern Minnesota school district is closed until Monday due to an outbreak of the flu. Wabasso School Superintendent Wade McKittrick posted a video on the school's Facebook page Wednesday night making the announcement. He said on Monday there were 53 students and nine staff members sick with the flu. On Wednesday, the number of student cases rose to 74. That's about 20-percent of the student population. "I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause," he said, "However, we believe this action is prudent for the wellbeing of our students." Walker Hayes creates a stunning, heartbreaking music video for his song "Craig". Hayes says that the song is about a man named Craig, who he met at church. Craig is a father of six who Hayes wanted to help when Craig mentioned that his family was growing through some hard times. Hayes launched the "Be a Craig" fund, a fund dedicated to paying it forward. Hayes says that if he hadn't had some of the worst days of his life, he wouldn't have met Craig.
