The Minnesota Senate today unanimously (58-0) passed a bill designating a segment of Trunk Highway 95 (covering West Lakeland Township, Bayport and Oak Park Heights) as Corrections Officer Joseph Gomm Memorial Highway.
“Officer Gomm is remembered as a dedicated public servant, devoted friend and trusted colleague. He was murdered a day after his 16th anniversary on the job.”
Republican Senator Karin Housley from St. Marys Point. 45-year-old Gomm was killed in the line of duty by an inmate at Stillwater prison last July. The bill has already passed in the House and now heads to Governor Walz for a signature.
